SMOKE CONCERT HELD. •■':.. ".■•'.■ .; . ' REILTNTSCENCBS EXCHANGED. Reminiscences both grave and) gay were exchanged between more' than 100 members of the New Zealand Institute of surveyors and representatives of allied professions at a smoke concert hold' in the Newmarket Municipal Hall last evening. Mr. H. McL. Ross, president of the institute, was in the chair. Captain 35. G. N. Wyatt, in command of 'the Admiralty survey ship Endeavour, was represented by Lieutenant-Com-mander W. B. Monk and Lieutenant J. M. Sharpey-Schafer. Tho following toasts were honoured: The King, proposed by the chairman; New Zealand Institute of Surveyors, proposed' by Mr. C. K. Grierson, and replied;to by tho chairman; allied professions, proposed by Mr. E. V. Blake, and replied to by Mr. R. A. Lippincott and Mr.. J. Tyler; the visitors, proposed by MrijiG. S. Ellis, and replied to by Lieutenant-Commander Monk and Mr. A. H. Bogle. In proposing the toast to the allied professions Mr. Blake extended; congratulations to Mr.. Lippincott oh his success in the competition for the architectural design for the proposed new Law Courts for Sydney. During the evening items were, given by Mr, I. Lambert, Mr. A. H. Turner, Mr. S. Carter, Mr. Alan McElwain, and the-Melody Five, comprising Messre. S. Duncan, : W". Robbins, T; Ellison, W. Armour'and I. Lambert.
