The annual dance of the Loyal Pupuke Lodge, M.U.,1.0.0.F., wae held on Thursday laet in the Gas Company'e Hall, Takapuna. A large number of members and visitor* wae in attendance, and a most enjoyable time was spent. The music wae of a very high standard and was supplied by an orchestra all of whom were members of the order. The floor arrangements were in the capable hands of Brother* Harrison-Lee and Wareham. The committee responsible can be well satisfied with the result of their labour*, the personnel of that committee being Sisters S. D. Eade, W. Perry, R. Oliver, I. Byers end Brothers Harrieon-Lee, S. D. Eade, Wareham, Cairn* and'Clarke.

The quarterly meeting of tlie Loyal Tβ Kuiti Lodge, M.U., was held on Tuesday eveninjr, » very good attendance being recorded. #iv« new candidates were balloted for and accepted. Arrangements were flnalfeed for the annual dance. Brother Towera reported on the annual football match played between the local Druids and the lodge, and said an excellent spirit had prevailed throughout the game. The report* •hewed • healthy condition hi all department*. A happy hour of social intercourse was spent at the dose.

A well attended meeting of the general committee of the Auckland United Friendly Societies' Medical Institute was held on August 24, under the chairmanship of the president, Bro. W. G. Caddy, when the report for the half-year to June 30 was presented. Remarkable increase fan membership Iβ recorded, the total at the end of June being 4352 members, representing a gain compared with the corresponding period of 1937 of 433. A welcome addition is the Loyal.Parnell Lodge, M.U.O.F. Relations with the medical officers eon. tinue to be satisfactory and their services appreciated. Very few complaints have been receired end - these hare not been of a eerioue nature, being in most cases the result of misunderstanding. Dr. F. R. Smale's resignation was receired with regret, the institute losing the services of a very conscientious officer. It was also reported that : the contract* with Dm. E. Gurr and J. W. During the evening various mattem connected with the institute were discuased. Owing to the unavoidable gtaence of the immediate past president, Bro. W. R. Forsyth, a presentation that was to have been made in recognition of services rendered was postponed. ■ i The Youthful Enterprise Juvenile Temple, 1.0. G.T., met on Thursday evening, a rather smaller attendance than usual being presided over by the C.T., Sister Joyce Willey. Quite a number of members were sick or on holiday. The business was. carefully but promptly dealt with and when all wae concluded a pleaeant time wae spent, the programme being in the charge of Sister r '»y Gallagher. Games, competitions and items helped the time to paes all too quickly. A very pleasant evening was spent on Monday laet at the court rooms of Court Pride of Onehunga, 6261. Few members attended, as this was quarter night, the number being very disappointing. A larger muster would be appreciated at the Court meetings. The balance-sheet vm read, showing affairs to be quite satisfactory. After the meeting bowls were indulged in by team* representing R.B.A. versus Court Pride, the trophy being a silver challenge cup presented by Bro. Joe McCullough, which was retained by the Court Pride teams.

P.0.C.M.. expressed the thanks nt the lodpe to the puests of the t.ycniiiff for their work for the order He wished them the best of luck in their new life together and asked them to accept the many jrifts with the best of all the members. Bro. Gilbert suitably replied and musical honours were accorded the happy couple.

I The Enterprise Lodge, Xo. 80, 1.0.0. T., J met on Thursday, the C.T.. Bro. Pace, I presiding over a -rood attendance. An i official visit was received from the : officer* and members of the Pride of Ro: kill Lodge, whilst Bro. Cannon, of London, and Sister Bertha Williams were also in attendance. All the visitors were received with due ceremony and the lxoskill members were flsked to officer the lodge. P.t'.T. Bro. E. Chadderton then presided and thanked the Enterprise members for their welcome. The routine business was then completed, a report being also given of the district meeting. Quite a lot of greetings from different parts were received and reciprocated. A happy social hour followed. Bro. J. T. Chadderton. sen., convulsing the members with his humour. Supper brought a pleasant meeting to a close.

The Northern Oak Lodge. U.A.0.D., met at the bandroom. Dargaville, on Monday evening, A.D. Bro. J. Lees presiding over a very fair attendance of members and visitors. Among the latter was Bro. Ballwell. V.A. of the Kia Ora Lodge. Pukekohe, who received a proper Druidie welcome. The resignation was received with regret of P.D.P. Bro. R. H. Dunn as friendly society delegate and many tributes were paid to his services in that position. P.A. Bro. Watkins was elected to fill the vacancy. The meeting closed with an enjoyable session in harmonv.

I The annual dance of the Loyal Te Kuiti Lodge was held in the Parish Hall on Thursday, a very good number of members and visitors beinjr present. The hall had been nicely decorated with the lodge colours of yellow and black. The music was most inviting, being played by Joe Black's orchestra and the conditions were perfect for dancing. The Monte Carlo dances were won by Bro. Hallett and Sis. Seville and Bro. Davis and Sis. Hetet. P.D.G.M. Bro. Hetet thanked all who had helped to make the evening one of the most successful ever held by the lodge.
