AFTERNOON PARTY.
SURVEYORS' WIVES. ENJOYABLE FUIfCTION. In honour of the wives of the southern delegates, who are visiting Auckland for the manual conference of the New Zealand Institute of Surveyors, a reception was held in the Penwomen'e Club rooms yesterday afternoon. The rooms were tastefully decorated for the occasion with large bowls of daffodils and orange Iceland poppies, und the stage was also effectively arranged with flowers in the same golden tones. On arrival the guests were received by Mrs. C. K. Grierson, the wife of the president of the Surveyors' Institute. Mrs. Grierson was assisted by Mrs. E. S. Blake. Mrs. Grierson received her guests wearing a navy crepe frock relieved with a striped organza collar, in French blue and pink shades. Mrs. Blake wae wearing a frock of hyacinth blue crepe and a white fur. Th# programme for the afternoon opened with pianoforte solos by Mies M. Mansack. ' The foursome reel was given by Miss Mavis Ward, and an amusing sketch, entitled "In an Irish Court House" was given by Mre. A. Home. Vocal solos were also given by Mrs. H. H. Corbin. Among tie gnests were: Mrs. G. St. V. Keddell (Invercargill), Mrs. N. Clay (New Plymouth), Mrs. W. Traill, Mrs. Richardson (Christcburch), Mrs. J. Hudson, Mrs. Austin Goes, Mrs. L. S. Enipen, Mrs. N. J. Till, Mrs. K. M. Graham, Mrs. A. W. Cheal, Mrs. Dalton, Mrs. M. Gaddar (Wellington), Mrs. H. L. F. Dyett (Wellington), Mrs. A. Reid, Mrs. H. A. Adams (Dunedin), Mrs. D. S. Rowe. Mrs. W. E. Griffiths, Mrs. Ledger (Nelson), Mrs. H. L. Patereon, Mrs. P. Barlow, Mrs. Currie, Mrs. T. T. Andrews, Mrs. A. B. Bures, Mrs. H. P. Spencer, Mrs. L. S. Cheal, Mrs. Rose and Miss Graham.
