BOYCOTT CHARGE
BREWERS' DISPUTE.
REPLY BY FEDERATION. ISSUE OF DISCLAIMER. Denial was made to-day by Mr. H. Campbell, secretary of the Auckland Council of the Federation of Labour, that there had been any suggestion of a boycott in connection with the brewers' dispute. "Mr. W. E. Anderson, secretary of the Employers' Association, made an allegation in the Arbitration Court yesterday that the president and secretary of the Auckland Council of the Federation of Labour, in an interview with him regard-, ing the brewery dispute said that a boycott would be instituted against certain brewery firms if the dispute was not settled on our terms," stated Mr. Campbell.
"I wish to, give this statement an emphatic denial. The interview in question was suggested by a representative of one of the brewery linns in an endeavour to have the dispute settled amicably. We suggested that no good purpose would be gained by such an interview, but in order that no stone would be left unturned to effect a settlement we agreed to the interview. Never at any time did we suggest that a boycott would be instituted, nor in our dealing with our affiliations we ever advocated such action."
