TOO MANY JOBS!
POSITION IN N.Z.
MR. WEBB'S STATEMENT.
MINISTER'S SATISFACTION.
"The position to-day is that in Auckland there are more jobs available than there are men to fill them—and that i? indicative of the position throughout New Zealand," declared the Minister of Mines, the Hon. P. C. Webb, on his arrival this morning from Wellington. With that statement the Controller of Employment, Mr. A. J. Riddler, who accompanied Mr. Webb, agreed.
There were, of coume, said Mr. Webb, a number of unfit men who were being taken care Tof otherwise, and also some men who, for domestic reasons, were finable to leave home to go to various jobs that were offering. Apart from those, his original statement was correct.
Mr. W£bb expressed his appreciation of the co-operation of State Departments and of local bodies, who had done all they could to end unemployment in New Zealand.
