MELBOURNE, August 9.
The National Council of Women it " u "a n n erred and shocked" because the West Melbourne Stadium has promoted wrestling bouts between children. At an executive meeting the women ' will probably take steps to prevent further juvenile bouts. Four boys, aged between eight and ten, from St. Augustine's Orphanage, Geelong, wrestled before a record crowd ." as a preliminary bout. "The appearance of the boys was pitiful in the extreme," said Mrs. L Moss, president of the National Council of Women. -rr • C-^htC "It is disgraceful that children ehoeld - be encouraged to fight. It is certainly no place for ~J children. Those responsible should ashamed of themselves." The superintendent of the orphanage " (Brother Doyle) said that public by boys would not be regular. "Personally, I fail to see how any great harm can come to them.
"Money thrown into the ring after the bouts amounted to £5.
"This will be added to the orphanage building fund."
