LIGHTING SCHEME.
THE GREAT SOUTH ROAD.
MAIN HIGHWAYS BOARD'S IDEA
That the Main Highways Board had' made a provisional allocation for the surveying of the Great South Road from Papatoetoe to Penrose, in connection with the projected scheme for floodlighting this part of the road, was reported at the meeting of the Auckland Electric Power Board yesterday afternoon.
The general manager of the board, Mr. R. H. Bartley, reported that two stretches of road had been selected by the Main Highways Board. One was the Hutt Valley Road, and the other was the Great South Road, and an advisory board had, been appointed of which he was a member. Aβ far ae he was aware no meeting of this committee had been called. He was hopeful that the new colour-corrected mercury and- sodium-dis-charge lamps could be used in connection with this proposed scheme. '
