ASSEMBLY HALL.
TAKAPUNA GRAMMAR SCHOOL i PUPILS TO SUPPLEMENT GRAXT. The building of an assembly hall at tlie Takapuna Grammar School was ; brought a step nearer when the Grammar School Board, at its last meeting, approved a sketch plan submitted by (the headmaster, Mr. K. Dellow. This ' provides for the erection in the quadrangle of a building in wood, 75 by 45, : with a seating capacity of 550, estimated to cost £3700. I The Minister of Education, the Hon. P. Fraser, u> prepared to give a grant 'of £2000. Local contributions in the hands of the hall committee amount to £750, and the present school hae j undertaken to raise this to £850 by . their effort* this year. The Grammar J School Board will contribute an equal amount eo that the actual cost of the building can be met. Further local effort will be required to furnish the hall, and it is expected that the Ex-Pupils' Association will take a lead in this part of the project. The school hopes to raise a large part of its quota of £100 by an entertainment to be given to-morrow and on Thursday evenings in the Gaiety Theatre, and looks for the hearty support of residents in a cause that is for i the benefit of the whole Xorth Shore.
