PROBLEM IN LOWER WAIKATO
SURVEY OF RIVER-BED. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. Between Rangiriri and Tuakau the Public Works Department is engaged in plotting cross-sectional plans of the Waikato River witj| the object of securing reliable data on; possible .changes in the river bottom due to' shoaling and scouring- . J".''" The work hae been delayed owing to the high level of the river. A party has been operating for the paet two or three months, taking observations at points where similar surveys were made six years ago. The result ie likely to be a concrete scheme to grapple with flooding and silting problems in the Lower Waikato.
