GREATER EFFICIENCY.
ASSISTANCE TO INDUSTRY. APPOINTMENT OF EXPERTS. Members of the Auckland Manufacturers' Association, at a meeting yesterday afternoon, discussed a letter from the Department of Industries and Commerce, which said that it was the aim of the Department to assist industries in any way that would lead to greater efficiency and production. The Department hart engaged two men of wide technical knowledge, one an engineer, and the other an industrial chemist. Their services would be available, through the district office of the Department, in connection with any problem on which manufacturers would like "advice.
The letter said that another matter affecting industrial efficiency wae the elimination of wasta. The association was asked to co-operate by issuing to all members an attached questionnaire. The president, Mr. H. W. Shove, eaid that as far as waste wae concerned, a start might be made with factories which had waste products. It was decided to advke members that the services of the experte were available, and to send out the questionnaire with a request that it should be filled in and returned direct to the Department. j
