PASCOE CUP.
MOTOR CYCXE TRIAI* C. BRINDLE RETAINS TROPHY. The Pascoe Cup trial held on August 6 and 7 by the Auckland Motor Cycle Club resulted in a win for the present holder of the trophy. C. Brindle. He thus retains the cup for a second year. The event was one of the most successful of the club's season.
The firet day took the riders to Thames by way of the coast road, passing through Whitford, Clevedon, Miranda and Ngatea. A water-splash at the Orere Stream took its usual toll of points and the winding road upset the judgment of the majority of riders who arrived too early. The ultimate winner, Brindle, was outstanding on this section, his experience in this sort of work showing up to advantage. The machines were garaged for the night and the riders were free until the morning. A party of diehards, not content with a day's ride, set out to enjoy themselves roller ekating, but found .that although they had eight wheels under them some of the time, they found that two wheelers were more in their line. Sharp at 9 a.m. the first man left on the circuit, which was intended to bring them back to Thames for lunch. Unfortunately a cloudburst on this section washed out the road and riders had to return the way they had come, arriving back at Thames for lunch. From here a straight run back to Auckland was scheduled, but two of the riders found their way to Paeroa. A brake test at Pokeno and a final time check to Penrose completed the event. — The final placings were:—C. Brindle (Velo.) 1, R. McAuley (Levis) 2, P. I'larkeon (Velo.) 3. A club run to Helen'sville takes placaj next Sunday. Eiders will leave the dufbroome st-10- won.
