The voting for the first series of girls entered for the "Miss New Zealand" contest has now been completed, and in this week's issue of the "Xew Zealand Woman's Weekly " there are the names of the first district semi-finalists. These eight beautiful girls will appear in the various movie theatres in the different centres. The eight Auckland girls will make their appearance in the Majestic Theatre at all the evening performances from Friday, August 19, to Thursday, August 25. Voting forms for the semi-finalists are included in this week's issue, and these should either be posted to the "Xew Zealand Woman's Weekly," Box 1409. Auckland, or left in the ballot box provided in the theatre. Copies of the magazine will be on sale in the theatres while the girls are appearing. In this week's issue there are the second lot of photographs of the second series. Xew Zealanders are always interested in artistes from other lands, and readers have an opportunity this week of getting an insight into the life of Donna Xati Morales, a. true exponent of one of the greatest arts of all time —the Spanish folk dances. The story mi how Ruth Draper first discovered her great talents is told in an intriguing editorial, which should be very interesting to the thousands of readers, who have already seen her or are going to. The second instalment of the new serial, "Unofficial Wife," appears this week, and tliere are three other complete short stories of a varied nature. Spring is always a showery season, and the fashion page in this issue shows three suggestions for smart and attractive rain wear. This week readers have the choice of eight free patterns.
