EIGHTY YEARS OLD.
MRS. JAMES McKERRAS.
OLD RESIDENT OF NORTHCOTE. The eightieth birthday of Mrs. James McKerras, of Princes Street, Northcote, where she has resided for the past 41 years, was celebrated at her home on Sunday by a gathering of relatives, some of whom travelled from the Thames. A large number of congratulatory messages were received from her numerous relatives and friende, and many callers conveyed similar good wishes. Mrs. McKerras is the widow of Mr. James McKerras, who for a lengthy period carried on a retail boot and shoe business in Queen Street, Auckland, prior to his retirement. His death occurred Iβ years ago. Mrs. McKerras was born at Auckland on August 14, 1858, being the daughter of Mr. James Gilberd, builder, and Mrs. Gilberd, of Alton Road, Auckland. Mrs. McKerras has alwaye been a zealous supporter of charitable objects and community work, and though her health does, not now permit active participation in such labours of love, her generous support is still extended to all worthy objects. She maintains her bright and cheerful disposition.
