"COLD AND LIFELESS."
DOMINION HOTELS. OPINION IN UNITED STATES. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) DUNEDIN, this day. A resident of Dunedin, Mr. J. E. Barling, has returned from a visit to America, where he met many people who had visited New Zealand. Without exception, he said, they were loud in their praises of the Dominion's scenery and peoplr, but equally unanimous were they in complaints concerning the lack of the service they had been accustomed to, and the fact that a meal was unobtainable after 7 p.m., or a cup of coffee after 10 or 11 o'clock. The hotels, they remarked, were "cold, lifeless and stiff."
