CHAIRMAN TO RETIRE.

Low*, chairman of the Thanes County Council, at to-day'a meeting of the council, intimated that he intended retiring from local- body life, and at the next meeting of the council he "would tender his resignation. Members asked Mr. Lowe to reconsider his stated intention before the next | meeting, and at lea«t continue in office I until the end of Ihe year, or for his I term.
