Land Mine Explosion in
Palestine.
BRITISH SOLDIERS HURT. (Received 1.30 p.m.) RUGBY, August 11. The High Commissioner in Palestine, Sir Hugh McMichael, in a telegram states that near Tulkarm a post office messenger was robbed of £90 yesterday.
The following casualties were caused by an explosion of a land mine:—A Jewish passenger in a taxi was killed and was wounded near Hedera.
Two British soldiers in a lorry were slightly wounded near Jenin, and a Jewish boy in a lorry was slightly wounded near the northern frontier.
COLONIAL SECRETARY. RETURN FROM NEAR EAST TOUR (Received 1.30 p.m.) RUGBY, August 11. The Colonial Secretary, Mr. Malcolm Mac Donald, has arrived in London from his tour in the Near East and Malta. His discussions with the Maltese authorities will be continued by the Gover-nor-General, Sir Charles BonhamCarter. Mr. Malcolm Mac Donald gave an interview to the representatives of the Jewish Agency to inform them of the object of his visit to Palestine, which was to have consultations with the authorities on the 8 pot regarding the present j situation in Palestine with special reference to the problems of security. He also saw Dr. Tammous, the head of the Arab centre in .London, for the same purpose. Mr. Mac Donald gave the Prime Minister. Mr. Chamberlain, an account of his visits to Palestine from Malta. ARAB BANDIT KILLED. TWO OTHERS WOUNDED. (Received 9.30 a.m.) RUGBY, August 11. The" Colonial Office has been advised from Palestine that military forces on Tuesday engaged a small party of armed Arabs in Tulkarm and Quarlquilliya, killing one bandit and wounding two. There were no casualties among the troops.
