After a combined effort of three months on the part of the Town, County, and Manurewa queens in the Papakura Catholic queen carnival, a brilliant finale was staged in the Windsor Theatre last evening. The hall was crowded with an attendance of -over 400 guests, from the Ararimu, Ramarama, Drury, Karaka, Papakura and Manurewa districts. ' Before the supper adjourned the final votes were announced as follows s— Town queen, MiSs Gladys Verrter, 12,284; Manurewa queen, Miss Kathleen Donelan, 0140; country qtieOn, Miss J. Lowry, 5883; The sum of £342 was raised to assist the parish funds. lij making a small presentation to the three queens for their Splendid work, in connection with the carnival, Father Lockwood expressed hie high appreciation bf-their effortO in making the carnival such a wonderful achievement, and to other denominations who had assisted.
