RECIPROCAL TREATIES TO XJ.S
WASHINGTON, August 1
The Secretary of State, Mr. Cordell Hull, issued a statement yesterday in which he said reciprocal agreements had not benefited American industry at the expense of agriculture. He insisted that substantial increases in exports of agricultural products had occurred as the result of reciprocal treaties.
There had been an increase of 25 per cent in the first six months of 1938, as compared with the corresponding period of 1937. Mr. Hull stressed the growing importance of increased exports in years of surplus crops.
