PURCHASE OF MONGOLIA.

WELLINGTON, Monday.
The New Zealand Shipping Company, Limited, announces that it has acquired the Peninsula and Oriental Steam Navi-j gation Company's mail and passenger liner Mongolia, a twin-screw steamer which haa been, well and favourably known as a passenger carrier in the Peninsula and Oriental service between the United Kingdom and Australia, via the Suez Canal. The ship has been renamed Bimutaka, and will be employed in the New Zealand Shipping Company's passenger service between tfew Zealand and England, via the Panama Canal- ... The Riihutaka is a steamer of 16,600j tons gross register. 551 ft 6in in length,] ind 72ft in breadth, and was built in 1923 by Armstrong, Whitworth and Company, Limited, at Newcastle-on-Pyrie. She is propelled by twin screws Iriven by two sets of double ; reducti6n ;ear turbines. Her seven boilers burn ril fuel. . . . .. _.
The ' name Rimutaka revives " one that was associated with the New Zealand Shipping Company's, fleet almost continuously for nearly half a century. Before entering the New Zealand service the new Rimutaka will be completely remodelled and refitted for the I requirements of the passengers and cargo service via the Panama Canal. It is understood the Rimutaka is replacing the Ruahine, which will be withdrawn from Service. The Reniuera will take the homeward sailing from New Zealand on May 25* - .... _^_^_
