FATAL ACCIDENT.

CHRISTCHURCH, Monday.
A garage- proprietor, Alexander James Blackburn, was Charged in the Magiitoa*eV Court to-day wi^h. driving negligently in Hereford Street on July 2, thereby causing the death of John Anderson, lie also' faced t-hafges of failing to stop and give assistance, driving without due care: and attention, and failing to report the accident to the police. On the first two charges, both of them indictable, he pleaded not guilty and was committed' to the Bupreroe Court for trial. The other charges were' adjourned. *',*■#•; ■' ' r 'V '.J^!' Together with the ease against Blackburn the Court held, .an inquest intothe death of Mr. Anderson. A verdict was returned that death was due' to septic inflammation, following Super* ncial injuries received when deceased was struck and knocked down by a ;'ear owned and driven by Blackburn. Deceased was 84 years of age. Blackburn was allowed bail of *tOO.
