MAORI FEAST.
Pig Cooked by Choir for Sydney Settlers. NOVELTY RELISHED. (Received i 1.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, this day. "The Sun" reports the visit of the Maori choir to the charitable settlement at Hammondville, established by Canon Hammond, where a large pig was cooked Maori fashion in the earth and served to settlers and families, who greatly relished being treated to such a rare novelty.
The Chieftainess, Nepe Apatu, in Maori costume, supervised the cooking, and Bishop Bennett acted as host to the delighted gathering.
