LONG SERVICE TO SCHOOL.
CHAIRMAN'S RETIREMENT,

HUNTLY, Tuesday,
After 47§ years* service on the Ohiuewai School Committee, the greater part of which he had acted as chairman, Mr. E. Foster, sen., has retired, owing to ill-health. In appreciation of the excellent services he had given, Mr. Foster was made the recipient of several gifts at a social gathering arranged by the school committee. During the course of the function Mr. Foster planted in the school grounds a tree, which was donated by the Ohinewai Women's Institute.
K Mr. Foster was presented with a pipe by his eldest grandchild, Alma Hancock, senior prefect, on behalf of the school children, while Ena Hancock, a junior scholar, presented Mrs. E. Foster, sen., with a bouquet. In making a presentation to Mr. Foster of two upholstered easy chairs, on behalf of the residents and old pupils, Mr. J. A. A. Ridgley, chairman o.f the school committee, paid tributes to Mr. Foster f6r his splendid services to the community, and wished him health and happiness for the future. Mr. Foster suitably acknowledged the gifts.
