THE HON. H. A. RUSSELL.
SPORTSMAN AND FARMER. (From Our Correspondent.) HASTINGS, Thursday. The death has occurred of the Hon. Harold Arthur R resell, M.L.C. A prominent Hawke's Bay sheepfarmer, Mr. Russell wa« born at Hastings in 1871, his father • being the late Sir William Russell. After working on his father's property at Tunanui for some time, Mr. Russell took up land at Puketapu, where he farmed until 1918. He was for many years a polo enthusiast, founding the Hawke's Bay club. He was a member of the committee of the New Zealand Polo Association for 20 years.
Mr. Russell was a keen huntsman, and as a gentleman rider met with moderate success. He wae interested in the breeding and training of jumpers. He was for some years president of the Hawke's Bay Jockey Club and aleo the Hawke's ■ Bay Agricultural and Pastoral Society.
Mr. Ruseell owned the Apley station on the Mangaone River, where he
specialised in Black Poll cattle, and sheep for woolgrowing and breeding
