TROUBLE OVER A DOG!
ONE BLOW COSTS £4 AND COSTS
■ Brought to the Police Court on summons to-day, charged with assaulting Ernest Mummery on June 4, Hugh Duggan pleaded guilty.
Sub-Inspector Flanagan eaid Mummery, an elderly man, was at the corner of iiarangahape Road and Pitt Street at 4 p.m. on June 4. He had a, Pomeranian dog -on a leash. Duggan spoke to Mummery and.eaid to lnm. "Your missus should be leading the dog, not you." Later Duggan struck Mummery on the mouth, breaking a tooth. Mummery had diie hand in his pocket at the time. Duggan then disappeared into an hotel bar. Another man who witnessed the assault was able' to identify him.
"I was drunk and don't remember what happened," Duggan told the magistrate. Sub-Inspector Flanagan, however, denied that the accused was dri; ■•>":.
Mr. C. R. Orr Walker, S.M., fined Duggan £4 and 8/ costs and ordered that half the -•-fine should be paid to Mummery.
