I STUDENTS' TOURNEY. AUCKLAND TRAINING COLLEGE. Hard and fast lioxing enlivened tiie Auckland Training College annual chumpiuuship tournament held last night at the Auckland Gymnasium. The live new college champions are :—LiKht-he«v.v-weight, A. Simpson ; middle-weight. R. I'ipe ; weiter-weight, F. Campsty ; lightweight, A. AlcClew; bantam-weight. M. McGreal. I The results of the bouts were as lollov. s :— Bantam-weight.—Final: McGreal won by default from Kout. I.ijiht-weifc-ht. —Filial : McClew, 9.4, defeared Covey, 1>.3, on points. Covey endeavoured from the start to rush his opponent off his feet with a steady body attack, but he was kept at a distance by McClew's straight left. Welter-weight.—Rtithcv. 10.0, defeated McMillan. 10.0, ou points: Pile, 10.6, defeated Price, 10.i, on points. Pile withdrew from the competition owing to a broken nose and Campsty. 10.G, defeated Kuihe in the linal. Kuthe hit more cleanly Hi in his opponent in the opening stages, but Campsty came stronger toward the i end and scored with a number of powerful ' straight lefts. Lively Exhibitions. One of the brightest spots of the programme was an exhibition bout" between Vic. Caltaux, -who on Monday Is to contest the New Zealand welter-weight title with Neville Mudgway, and Bob. Morrlgan, of Wellington. Caltaux attacked in his usual dashing style, but Morrigan fought back confidently, showing himself a master of defence. Hughie Sheridan, the British Empire Gnmee representative, showed up well in a spar with Young Gildo, the Filipino, who boxed cleverly on the defensive. Another Auckland amateur.
