PRAYER FOR VICTORY.

POPE AND GENERAL FRANCO. ROME, July 7. The Pope to-day received the credentials of General Franco’s Ambassador to the Vatican, Don Jose Messia. The Pontiff expressed the hope that the day was not far off “when so much wrong and pain will be at an end.” He added: “I pray always that this will be soon, and that God will reserve to General Franco the joy and glory of announcing a victorious day to Spain and to the world.”

Don Jose reaffirmed Spanish fidelity to Catholicism.
