POWER TROUBLES.

EFFECT OF STORM.

WAITEMATA DISTRICT. FAULT IN MAIN LINE. Stormy weather during the past fewdays caused considerable trouble to both the Waitcmata Klectric Power Board and the Auckland Klectric Power Board.

At four o'clock this morning a fault developed in the Public Works Department's ."iO.IMIO voltage line between Penrose and Henderson, and for the next four hours all power in the Waitcmata board's area was cut off. Residents made the discovery when they pot up this morning to turn the lights on, and start preparing the breakfast. By eight o'clock the fault was remedied, and the usual power service was available.

During the stormy weather yesterday there were some minor troubles in the Auckland board's area, a few transformer fuses were blown out, broken tree branches caused trouble in some areas, ami there was one reported case of interruption at Manurewa. where the poles carrying a private line to a farm were blown down.

On three occasions yesterday there were power interruptions in the city. this being due to a breakdown in the 110,000-volt transmission line between Arapuni and Stratford. The surge interfered with the Penrose sub-station, and resulted in the shutting down of the direct current generators at King's wharf sub-station, which supply power for the tramwavs and industries.

The trouble developed during the afternoon, and one effect was the holding up of the Auckland tramway service for 20 minutes.

Officials of both the Tower Boards reported this morning that no further troubles were being experienced, and that the services were back to normal.
