In order to assist in the payment for foreign imports Signor Mussolini has sanctioned the sale by Signor F. Tesio of tiie latter's unbeaten colt, Nearco. for £GO,OOO to the London sportsman Mr. Martin H. Benson for stud purposes. states the Homo correspondent of the "Daily Telegraph." The sum mentioned is equal to the price paid by the late Sir Henry Mallaby-Deeley for the Derby winner tall Boy. Nearco won the Italian Derby in Rome last month ami later took the <Jrand Prix de Paris at Longehamps, beating among others the English Derbv winner Bois Roused. He has started on 14 occasions and has yet to be beaten. Air. Benson, in 1!»34. purchased from the Maharajah of Fajpipla, the Derby winner Windsor Lad for £.~>0.0(HI. anil he won for him the Crcat Yorkshire Stakes and the St. Leger, while as a four-year-old he was unbeaten in hi* only four starts, which included the Eclipse Stakes and the Coronation Cup. Last year the crack Italian colt. Donatello 11., was sold by his owner* and breeders, Signor F. f'e*io and the Marchese Incisa. for £4.3.000 at Newmarket to the French sportsman M. E. Esmond. He was unbeaten as a two and three-year-old in Italy, but in the Crand Prix de Paris Clairvoyant defeated him. Call Boy was sold in England for £60,000, Tracery for £53,000. while Solario brought £47,23.1 at auction.
