CRIPPLED CHILDREN.
ENJOYABLE PARTY. MOUNT ALBERT AUXILIARY. Tlie .Mount Albert Crippled Children's Auxiliary held an enjoyable partly in tinLabour (.'liib rooms thin week when between 20 and ;«> crippled children from the Mount Albeit district were entertained. The voimg guests were welcomed by Dr. .7. Aitken Paterson. and a brief speech was also made by Mr. Anderson. Mayor of Mount Albert, who paid a tribute to the work of the auxiliary members.
The room* were decorated for the occasion with jrreen foliage and multicoloured balloons, while the children wore fancy hat* and carried home with them sweets and toys distributed by the auxiliary members. One little girl who has been on her back for II years had never before been to a party. Taken to the party and home again in an ambulance she spent one of the happiest evenings of her life ami left very regret fully when the ambulance called' for her al 10 o'clock.
Items were contributed by two crippled children. 10-year-old Margaret (ierraml playing the piano ami singing songs of her own composition. while Ma.tor l-'rank tireen ali.oi.ang. Conjuring trick, by Mr. I'. Harris and Mr. Sellars proved very popular, while recitations given by Miss Warlirick ami character dances l.'v Misses .lac.pteline Anderson an.l Sheet were aNo much appreciated.
The committee present included: Mesdames Amlcr.on. 1., lileukarn. Martin. S. s. snell. L. M. Craig. H. ( oyle. Hiiband ami Messrs. I). L. Thomas and Stevens.
