OLD GIRLS HOLD HAPPY REUNION.

Mount Eden College Ex-Pupils Meet.

There was a large gathering at the Lyceum Club on Saturday afternoon, when Mount Eden College Old Girls held their annual reunion. Cosy fires, early spring flowers au<l autumn foliage made the lounge a cheerful meeting place, afternoon "tea. table decorations being carried out in the old school colours of gold and white.

The guests were received by the president, Miss Gladys Eraon, and members of the committee. A happy afternoon was spent, and the time was passed in chat and reminiscence of former school days.

The guest of honour was Miss Bews, who was presented with a bouquet 011 arrival, utter which she received her old pupils, many of whom had travelled from the country to be present at the gathering. Many brought daughters with them and introduced them to Miso Bews. Also present were: Mrs. C. Leighton, president, Miss Tory Johnston (St. L'Uthbert s Old Girls' Association), Miss K. M. Anderson and Mdlle Bouillon.

I\egret was expressed in the passing of Mrs. W. S. Whitley, formerly Miss. Helen Gordon, a member of stall and a regular attendant at the reunions held at the Lyceum Club. Those present expressed the sorrow and a sense of personal loss, which all old girls felt at the passing on of their former coprincipal, Miss Alice Bews, paying tribute to her wonderful personality and character. All present stood in silence a mark of respect and in loving memory of Mias Helen. Greetings were received from distant old girls.

A short business meeting was held earlier in the afternoon, when the following committee was elected:—President, Miss Gladys Krson; vice-presi-dent, Mrs. D. A. Henderson; secretary, Mrs. C. M. MORNING TEA.

An enjoyable morning'tea party was given this morning in the Milne.and Choyce Tudor tea rooms by Mrs. Von Stunner. Mrs. W. Parry was the guest of honour at the tea, and two short speeches were made by Mrs. W. B. Darlow and Mrs, T. Blood worth. Mrs. Parry replied to the speeches.

Among those' present were: Mrs. Kellier, Mrs. Ciochetti, Mrs. Davies, Mrs. Lyon, Mrs. T. Bloodworth, Mrs. L. Brown, Mrs. Rowe, Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Weatherly, Mrs. Moore, Mrs. Spencer, Mrs. Waite, Mrs. Darlow, Mrs. McLaughlin, Mrs. W. Beecliey, Mrs. McLaughlin, Mrs. Turner. MEN OF KENT.

There was a good attendance of members and friends at the monthly social of the Auckland branch of the Association of Men of Kent and Kentish Men held at the Fabian Club.

The president, Mr. J. W. Jenks, presided, and the hostesses were Mrs. Jenks and Mrs. E. W. Bobbins. A special welcome was extended to Misw Marjorie Large, a member of the Wellington branch, who is visiting Auckland on holiday.

An enjoyable and bright programme was arranged by Mr. F. Butcher. The items included humorous numbers by Mr. Bletchley; piano-accordion selections, Madame Powdrill; novelty dance, Yvonne and Bobby; acrobatic? dancing by Yvonne; steel guita'r selections, Misses Connie Leahy and Mildred Powdrill; humorous playlet, "Gone East,'' by the Leys Rover Crew; and popular numbers by a band under the direction of Madame Powdrill.

Dancing took place after supper, Mr. Robbing acting as master of ceremonies.

GIFT EVENING.

The Druids' Hall was colourful in floral decorations and streamers when Mrs. Burnett Jones entertained recently over 180 guests in honour of the approaching marriage of Mis# Florence Davis. The hostess received the guests in a black georgette gown trimmed with gold embroideries. The guest of honour wore a smart frock of opal blue taffeta. An instrumental and vocal programme was enthusiastically encored. Many beautiful and useful gifts were received by Miss Davis.
