PERSONAL.
The Rev. Basil C. D. Palmer, formerly a student at St. John’s College and ‘Auckland University College, was recently inducted as vicar of Derry Hill, Wiltshire.
Mr. W. L. Dunn, secretary of the Hawke’s Bay Education Board, has been granted leave of absence. He will go to Wellington to assist the Minister of Education, the Hon. P. Fraser, with work in connection with teachers’ salaries and the staffing scale.
The Rev. I. R. Polson, of Sawyer’s Bav, Otago, has received a unanimous call from the Presbyterian Church at Dipton, which has been forwarded to him by the Southland Presbytery. The ordination and induction will take place on Thursday next.
Mr. F. W. Saxton, M.Sc., has been appointed a technical adviser to the Department of Industries and Commerce. He has nearly 20 years’ experience as an industrial chemist. Air. Saxton was the first Wellington Corporation chemist; being attached to the city engineers department. For four years he was in private practice in Dunedin and Christchurch, while for the past seven years he has been chief chemist in a large industrial concern.
Mr. J. F. Filmer. veterinary research officer at the Wallaceville laboratory. Wellington, has been notified that the degree of doctor of veterinary science at Melbourne University will be conferred on him at the next graduation ceremony. Mr. FiTmer’s thesis for the doctorate dealt with the use of cobalt in the treatment of deficiency diseases in live stock. Fie was recently engaged by the Department of Agriculture to take charge of cobalt research work, taking up his duties early this year.
