STATE ADVANCES.

SEASON’S FIRST DANCE. ATTRACTIVE DECORATIONS. The Amateur Operatic Society’s Hall. Grafton Road, was a scene of gaiety and colour when the staff of the State Advances Corporation held their first dance of the season. The stage was tastefully decorated with palms and the hall itself with streamers and balloons, the office colours of jmrple and gold being predominant. Novelty dances created much excitement and the function was altogether an outstanding sucThe committee comprised Miss D. I. Ashby, who wore black panne velvet; Miss P. V. Ashton, black flat crepe; Miss M. Brigham, leaf green taffeta: Miss I. A. Pratt, larkspur blue georgette; and Messrs. G. J. Regan. JI. Metcalfe, 1. Mcßeth, J. Gaelic and .Man Drake (secretary).
