ROAD ALMOST IMPASSABLE. COMPLAINT TO COUNCIL. (By Telegraph.— Own Cnrresj.ondenf.) TIIAMKS. this day. The Thames County Council yesterday decided to make urgent representation? to the Minister of Public \V< rk*, the Hon. R. Semple, tin. Kirikiri Koa<l, askinj.' when it could be expected that work would commence on the road. It was agreed to >et out the condition** under which the settlers are I workinjf at the present time. A deputation waited on the council ropreisentiiip the settlers. It wa.s stated that the road was almost impassaSle [and if nothing wa~ done the settler* would have to pack manure into their properties. The chairman. ?\lr. 11. Lowe, pointed out that the matter had been placet: before Mr. Semple when he was ii Thames and the council had made avail able its share of the cost of the work wliich it wa.s understood the Piililii Winks Department was P'oing to carr\ out. Regarding the Matatoki draina.*r< scheme, it was decided to make nrj-enl iepre«entrttions also in thi~ eonnection and meet settlers immediately after wards to discuss the proposal*.
