NEW HOTEL SITE.

APPLICATION GRANTED.

' " Mr. D.' L. Ross, who appeared for the applicant, pointed out that lavish expenditure had been incurred in the preparation of the new premises. ~ A memorial signed by a large number of residents of the district opposing the transfer of the , license was produced. The signatories objected to the transfer on the grounds that licensed premises not required in the district, that drinking after hours, as was so' often the case in country hotels, would create a nuisance to local residents, and that the road in the locality, and particularly where Ihe aew premises were situated, was dangarous and narrow.

The police stated that the new site for the, hotel' would enable a greater measure of supervision than had been possible at t^e^ji,f*te.
