The Glen Eden School Committee was granted the use of the Town Hall for a concert, to raise funds for a presentation to the assistant headmaster, Mr. O. Hamilton, who is leaving, when the Glen Eden Town Board held its May meeting.
A decision to make application to have Valley Road declared a main highway was made; it was stated that the road had become a popular connecting link between the West Coast Road and ■the Scenic Drive.
Ratepayers, it was decided, should be given an opportunity to express their views on the provision of a weekly sanitary removal service, as the Health Department had advised that the installation of individual septic tanks is undesirable.
Captain Hackett was elected chairman of the board.
The services to the district of Mr. A J. Rontley, a member of the board since 1024, and chairman for the past eight I years, were placed on record.
It was decided to make application for a wages subsidy for four more men, who will be placed on footpath formation work.
Head injuries and a broken left leg were suffered by Miss Clara Ella Harper, aged 64, of 11, Sarawia Street, Newmarket, when she was knocked down by a motor car at the corner of Parnell and George Street last evening. She was taken to the Auckland Hospital in a St. John ambulance. Her condition to-day was still fairly serious.
