FALL ON STREET,
FORMER N.Z. RACEHORSE
(Received 10.30 a.m.)
SYDNEY, this day
The former New Zealand horse Rival Hit fell in the street yesterday and broke his pelvis. He is now in the hands of a veterinary surgeon.
Rival Hit is a three-year-old gelcling by Winning Hit from Rivalry, and was bred by Sir Charles Clifford, of Canterbury. He only started twice as a two-year-old in New Zealand, winning .the Novice Handicap, six furlongs, at Trentham. He was subsequently ' sold to. Mr. W. F. Hughes, of Sydney, for 2000gs, and recently won two events for him at Warwick Farm. Rival Hit looked though he had struck his beet formj ; and tbe accident is very unfortunate. WELL-CONDITIONED PAIR. It is several months since Crooning won a race, but W. Gall has the daughter of Whirlwind and Cradle Song in excellent condition, and her winning turn may not be far off. This mare put up a smart gallop at Eilerslie last Saturday morning, and if she runs ufT' to it in the Members' Handicap at .Eilerslie next week she will keep the opposition busy. Prival, in the same stable, has proved himself a very capable galloper and is likely to extend hip record before the season ends. He will contest hack events at the Great Northern meeting.
