VICTORIA LEAGUE.

COUNTRY GIRLS ENTERTAINED.

The country girls visiting Auckland in connection with the education week arranged by the Waitemata provincial executive of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union and the Auckland Federation of Women's Institutes were entertained last night Ay the young people of the Victoria League. Over 120 country girls were present at the function and an enjoyable evening was spent, a large number of Victoria League members being present to welcome their guests. On arrival the country girls were given an official welcome by Mrs. J. B. Macfarlane, president of the Victoria League, and Mrs. L. S. Rickerby, the chairman. The evening began with a~short musical programme arranged by Miss E. Hutchison which included pianoforte solos by Mrs. Maxwell Grey, elocutionary items by Miss Peggi Cruickshank and Miss Maragert Parkinson and vocal solos by Miss E. Hutchison. Following the musical programme an interesting lecture on "Health and Diet" was given by Dr. Violet Hastings, and the evening concluded with supper, competitions and games. The party was organised by the Young Contingent of the Victoria League of which Mrs. L. S. Rickerby is chairman.
