SPEAKER ENTERTAINS
ROTARIANS ADDRESSED.
VISITOR FROM VANCOUVER.
Auckland Rotarians listened to-day to one of the breeziest and most entertaining addresses that have yet been delivered at the weekly gathering. The speaker was Mr. Leo Sweeney, a past president of the Vancouver Kiwanis Club, and his speech, rapidly delivered in resonant tones, was replete with humour, and kept his audience in roaie of laughter.
Mr. Sweeney explained that that organisation was numerically second only to Rotary and had similar objects. Its membership, totalling about 100,000, was confined to the United States and Canada, but a proposal would come forward at its annual convention for its operations to be extended to embrace the whole of the English-speaking peoples. The speaker made an appeal for the further spread of the gospel of tolerance, and goodwill amongst all peoples.
