N.Z. LEAGUE TEAM. ' I CONTROL BOARD EULOGY. ; ! KING'S BIRTHDAY ATTRACTION. ''I feel that my first duty this evening is to move a resolution of congratulation j and best wishes to our Auckland players ! who have gained international honours," said Mr. G. Grey Campbell, chairman of the Auckland Rugby League Control Board at the meeting last evening. Mr. Campbell said this appreciation should be conveyed to the individual players. Seconding the motion, Mr. J. W. Probert said he thought that the New Zealand team, as selected, would be a great credit to New Zealand on and off the field. Tha chairman added that it was right to say that every player selected deserved his place, and would uphold the reputation of the code. After Mr. R. Doble had added his congratulations, in which he expressed confidence in the team, the resolution was carried unanimously. Opportunity was taken to farewell Mr. F. T. McAneny, who, with Mrs. McAneny, is leaving on furlough to Australia. The Manukau and Newton Rangers' clubs advised that farewells had been arranged to'.members of their clubs going to Australia. Messrs. Doble and Probert were appointed to attend the respective club gatherings. It was decided to stage the annual Pakeha-Maori match for the Carlaw trophy at Carlaw Park on the .King's Birthday, Monday, June 6. The teams are to be announced at the week-end. Included in a batch of new player registrations were those of W. Mallinson (exWaiuta, West Coast), to Manukau; and C Meyer (Northland representative player and brother of E. Meyer, international of 1930). to Papakura. These applications are subject to clearance and approval by the New Zealand Council.
