BELIEVED DROWNED.

MAN DISAPPEARS OVERBOARD MEMBER OF SHIP'S CREW. i (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON", Sunday. A member of the crew of the Shaw Savill and Albion Company's steamer Mahia, Mr. T. Qumn, aged about 27, firenian, is believed to have been drowned in the harbour last night-ln unusual circumstances. When the Mahia, which was bound for Auckland, was leaving the wharf, two of the vessel's firemen were missing, but she went without them. Shortly after the pilot left the steamer in the fairway Mr. Quinn went overboard, it being understood that he said just before that he was not going to sea without his mates. The ship stopped immediately. A boat was lowered and a search was carried out. The Mahia anchored and communicated with the watch tower on Queen's wharf. The pilot launch went out and assisted in an unsuccessful search. Subsequently, the launch towed the ship's boat back and the Mahia went to sea.
