SYNTHETIC WOOL.
1 EXAMPLES IN GERMANY. DUNEDIN MAN'S IMPRESSIONS. (Bj- Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) DUNEDIN, this day. Evidence of Press censorship and control came recently under the notice of a Dunedin man whose business takes him to the Continent. Writing to «i friend, he states that he was in Berlin and Hamburg when the march into Austria took place, but not a word about the happening appeared in the German newspapers. It was not until he got over the border into Holland that he learned of what had taken place. The people in Germany appeared to be contented enough, although there was some shortage of essential foods. It Was noticeable, however, that more and more "synthetic stuff" was being manufactured. At the Leipzig Fair the range of such articles as wool and rubber was astounding. but samples of the wool since by New Zealand sheep farmers wore found to be distinctly inferior to genuine wool—'and not even cheaper. Cloths and materials being manufactured from this synthetic wool looked quite well, but elasticity was missing, and the lasting qualities were not there. The same applied to carpets, which were beautifully soft to walk upon, but lacking in wearing qualities.
