MODEL AEROPLANE NOTES

B^weiier

I suppose you arc nil waiting to hear "I the results of the .Yew Zealand championships. Well, the cat's out of the bag at last, aml I mi"ht as well tell vnii straight away that the Wellington Club have scooped the punl properly indoor champion eluh, outdoor champion cluli and champion club, taking with it the I'ara Cup. In the itnioor events the Auckland Club ran a very close race, a fourth placing making all the difference and just tipping the beam in the favour of Wellington, lint in the outdoor events there was never nnv ijuestion. A look at the results given below w ill make that very clear. Before piling on to the actual result* a little comment may be useful. Altogether 13 clubs actually- entered the championships, but very few, only a few indeed, sent in results. This was occasioned bv a number of thing*—mostly the weather. Just about all over Xew Zealand the weather at Kaster was particularly atrocious, and those eli.bs that had things lined up for outdoor events were particularly unlucky. Many of the clubs could not ily, one reporting ili.it about the only model that would have been any good at all would have been a specially waterproofed double-skinned type of seaplane, and they hadn't any of these. "Well, here are the actual placing*:--. Indoors. Spar Hand Launched Event.—E. rhornlcy, Wellington. !)..">!), 1 and indoor spar champion: IT. Hudson Wellington. <).0. 2; A. Well, that was a fairly solid bentilip that the old champions of Auckland took this year. The heartiest of congratulations must gn to Wellington upon their very deserved win. There was 110 lluko about it. and from the broad view of the sport in general it is perhaps the best thing that ever happened in model aviation circles in Xew Zealand, l'lie Auckland Club have been champions so long that they could not conceive that any one could take the honour awav troni them. 1 he Wellington men have been steadily progressing year bv vear, and the result means that the I'ara Cup will he in circulation for at lea-t three more years. tor it Ims to be won three times in Micecx-ion beloro a club call hold it. I know that now the Auckland run has been broken many more clubs wiii enter than lormerly, and. of course, the Aucklander- will not take the re-ul:~ of this year lyinpr down—tliev will be riuiit up on their toes —and l' predict .-tunc very hii:h times next year. hi conclusion. 1 would a-a in like to mention that, in my opinion the only really fair content of this sort is the cent rali-ed one. where evcryhodv (lies under the same condition-;.'
