SOCIAL EVENING.
DAIfCIIfG AND CARDS. A social: evening-held by-the Cumber- s land andrWestmorland Society in the Rest' a While Lounge, Victoria Arcade, proved very enjoyable and successful. Visitors were received by the president, Mr. E. Parkinson, and vice-president, Mrs. I. Little. Dancing, cards, items and games formed the programme, the items being contributed by Mrs. N. Carless (songs), Mr. W. Clark (songs with guitar accompaniment). Winners in the "Empire games" conducted by Mrs.- Curran were Mrs. Atkinson, Miss Carless, Mr. Cowper and Mr. Clark. Piano music was rendered by Mr. Paris Cowper. „ Committee members present were: President, Mr. E. Parkinson; vice-presi-dent, Mrs. I. Little; vice-president, Mr. I. Broadbent; secretary, Mrs. Broadbent; Miss Telford, Messrs. Hewson, Graveson and Atkinson. Among those present were: Mesdames Hewson, Graveson, Atkinson, Potter, Hutching®, Buchanan, Lewthwaite, Cunningham, Carless, Mead, Curran, Misses Telford, Parkinson and Carless.
