VALAMITO!

WINS PRESIDENT'S. CLEAR-CUT VICTORY. BRAVE EFFORT BY ENGE. Clarion Call Falls. Racing commenced with the Melville Hack and Hunters' Steeples, in which London scored an overdue win. He took charge early and scored easily, jumping well throughout. Lucidus had every chance, while Kinkle spoilt his prospects by faulty jumping. Cordon. Aramis, Slam, Lucidus and London led over the first fence, and at the obstacle by the three-furlong post Cordon and Aramis came to grief. London led 1 over the double at the stand from Lucidus, Kinkle and My Money, with Grantham and Top' Star next. Slam balked at this stage and Top Star rail down the fence going out of the straight. \ London held the lead along the back from Lucidus, with Kinkle about eight lengths away, followed by My Money and Grantham. There was little change crossing the top, and London turned for home about six lengths clear of Lucidus, with Kinkle and My Money following. Holding his advantage, London beat Lucidus by three lengths, with Kinkle two lengths further back. My Money and Grantham were next, with Top Star a long way back. An Effortless Win. In winning the first division of the Otorohanga Handicap, Hunting Blood recorded one of the easiest of victories, as ho took charge early and spreadeagled the field. Dragon Moth, after dropping back in the early stages, finished 011 well for second money. Valspear. having his first outing for some months, put up a good effort, as also did Silver (Mow. Iskra was slow away, and Dragon Moth began best, but soo;t lost her position, and Hunting Blood went to the front from Silver Glow, Dragon Moth, Blackmail, Alvth, The Trimmer and Valspear. Crossing the top Hunting Blood was six lengths clear of \ alspear, with The Trimmer, Silver Glow, Blackmail, Dragon Motli and Alyth next. Entering the straight, Hunting Blood had increased liis lead to 10 lengths, with Valspear and The Trimmer next, followed by Dragon Moth, Silver Glow, Blaekman and Aero King. Running 011 strongly, Hunting Blood won by 12 lengths from Dragon Moth, while Valspear and Silver Glow dead-heated for third place, a nose away. Alyth, Blackmail, Aero King and The Trimmer were next.

Favourite Fails. Silk Sox drew attention to his Great Northern Hurdles prospects as the result of his impressive win in the Waikato Hurdles this afternoon. He was always in the picture, and finished solidly. The favourite, Donegal, had every chance, finishing fifth. Iddo. who was in second place half a mile from home, weakened towards the finish. Killadar, lvilberis and Lady England led early, but passing the stands High Star. Donegal and Celtic Lad were practically on terms, with Silk Sox, Kilberis, Iddo, Lady England and Valpai next. Silk Sox took charge crossing the top, with Iddo close up. six lengths ahead of High Star, Lady England and Donegal, with Celtic Lad and Valpai following. High Star followed Silk Sox into the straight, with Iddo haiuly and Lady England, Inncss Lad and Donegal heading the others. Holding his lead in the run to the post Silk Sox beat Lady England by throe lengths, with High Star a length and a half away. Inness Lad, Donegal, Iddo. Valpai and Killadar were next. Came Home Strongly. Valamito, after waiting on the leaders until half a furlong from home in the President's Handicap, put in a solid run and won decisively. Knge had charge as the fi*ld turned for home, and his second was an improvement on his previous form. Malagigi was not too well placed early, but came through in good style. Chcval de Voice tried to win all the way, but was not good enough. Wotan's effort was disappointing, as he never got in the firing line. 'Cheval de Volee betjan best and led

past the stands from Valamito, Waitaka, Light Comedy and King Rev, with Prince Rangi, Enge and Malagigi heading the others, Wotan and Master Brierly being the last pair.
