GLANVILLPS 71. ——. j FIRST CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND. WHAXGAREI, this day. A round of 71 by J. "W. Glanville thii morning was ample evidence of the contrast in conditions between yesterday and to-day. Out in 36, two strokes better the bogey. Glanville came home in scratch figures. The scratch score for the course is 73. Results of the first round of the championship were:—Brinsden beat Chalmers, 5 and 4; Stedman beat Earle. 5 and 3; Clark beat Jacobsen at the twentieth; Woolhouse beat Grant at the twentieth; Clifford beat S. S. Wilson, 2 and 1; Hardybeat Aitken, 7 and 5; Glanville beat ifcLean, 3 and 1. ' Results in the first round of the Nortk Auckland Handicap were:—Potter beat Mann, 9 and 8; Wynyard beat Davidson, 4 and 2: X. M. Wilson beat Sheriff, 1 up; D. J. Thomson beat Anderson, 3 and 1; Christiansen beat Tappenden, 1 up; Sheen beat Brainsby, 3 and 2: Hargreaves beat MeCrystall, 3 and 2; Grant beat Jolly, 7 and 5.
