1 APPLE SALES WEAK. FEW BANANAS OFFERED. POTATOES AND CARROTS CHEAP. The market for apples to-day was very weak, sales being slow for most dessert varieties. There was a fair inquiry for choice cooking apples, Pears were only moderate. Both hothouse and outdoor I tomatoes sold well. The demand for hot- ' house grapes was fair, prices varying I according to quality. Sales were slow for New Zealand grapefruit and values for ; lemons were downwards. The demand lor \ oranges was normal. Cape gooseberries and persimmons sold very slowly. Only a few cases of ripe bananas were available to-day, being repacks ex the Miitua .shipment. Tlic ripened fruit should be available next week. Supplies of cabbage were short again to-day and high juices were realised. Cauliflowers were also dear. Carrots were in over-supply and sold at exceptionally low prices. The market was over-sup-plied with potatoes, which also sold at low prices. Pumpkins were hard to quit, except for choice quality. Plentiful supplies of celery were marketed, pricos being low. Beans were in fair supply, good ; quality lines realising high prices. Swedes were more plentiful.
