NORTH V. SOUTH.
INTER-ISLAND GAME. TO-MORROW'S ATTRACTION. TEAM FOR AUSTRALIA. Special interest attaches to the R ug bv Loaitue match between the Xorth anil South Island teams, which will be played to-morrow afternoon at Carlaw Park," as the Xew Zealand representative team to tour Australia will be selected after "the game. The curtain-raiser will be between Probable and Possible teams, and the players engaged will also have a chance of selection for the trip to the Commonwealth. The South, with good reason, are staking almost everything on their forwards. Mid they expect to show a 60 per cent superiority in the set scrums. Should that prove to be so. the South backs will get many opportunities in attack, and they have at least two outstanding plavers in their three-quarter line in Davidson and Brown. The South forwards are heavy and fast. In the front row is Barnard and Clark, both list, while the hooker, Orman. is reputed to be the cleverest man in that position that the game has had for some time. The Xorth forwards are a well-balanced lot, who should show special ability in open play. The Auckland backs ehould be able to display good combination, with clean handling and passing but much will depend on how far the Xorth forwards can assist them. With the exception of Cootea, the Wellington front-row forward, who played so ably last Wednesday in the trial match, all the North Island players are from Auckland. Midgley, the speedy Mariet wing-threequarter, has teen included.
