EMPIRE HEAVY-WEIGHT TITLE. STRICKLAND'S CHANCES Oh' A FIGHT. . LONDON, May 15. The Boxing Board has decided that an Empire heavy-weight championship bout between Tommy Fair and Maurice Strickland (New Zealand) depends upon the former successfully defending his Li tie against Foord and Phillips and upon the winner, also Strickland, eliminating Larry Gains. HALL BEATS YOUNG GILDO. Joe Hall, 9.0, gained tho derision over Young Gildo, 9.0, on points, at the Brisbane Stadium on Saturday night. The bout was closely contested for the full 15 rounds. It constituted the Filipino's first defeat in his last nine contests. Dommy Garzon, a clover Filipino featherweight, who has just complete 4 a very busy and successful season in Australia, is due to arrive to-day by the Aoranai under engagement for a eerie* of conteets in New Zealand. Garzon, who holds a decision over Joe Hall, is a welcome addition to the ranks of importations brought to New Zealand by the enterprising Auckland Association.
