Tim council of the Xcw Zealand Rugby Lp.ijrue had voluminous correspondence brlote it last evening in connection with trial mate-lies and the .Now Zealand team's tour to Australia. Mr. K. K. Asher deputised Tor the Rev. W. N. Pauapa ol lho Maoci Control -Board. The touring party will consist of 22 players two managers and the coach. I he New Zealand team will appear in Australia in a new and smart design of equipment, and the change from the AllBlack colour scheme was reflected by the constitutionally required notice of motion tallied as follows:—"The uniform of members playing; ae representatives of this ler.'iic shall be white pants, black jersey with white V and white cuffs, with silver kiwi and fern on left breast, and black stnekinjjs with white bar." The request for an Auckland team to play the Xew Zealand team on its return was deferred, Mr. Asher pointing out that the Maori Control Board desired to be considered for a match, involving the Auckland Maori representative team. Non-Replacement Favoured. A proposal by Mr. Kyle that replacements should be allowed for the interIsland match was lost on the casting vote of the chairman, but the move- gave notice of motion in the matter. Messrs. Doble and Asiisr supported Mr. Kyle. it wa« pointed out that the NorthSouth game was an annual fixture for the Courtney silver football trophy and was in a different category to next Wednesday's Auckland v. Rest of North Island, and the A and B curtain-raiser to the inter-!-dand match. Messrs. N. A. Kyle (Taranaki) and R. Doble (Auckland) were appointed managers of the North and South Island teams respectively. The secretary, Mr. W. O. Carlaw, reported having made application to the Railway Department for the running of an excursion train from Wellington on the occasion of the inter-Island match. Requests had come for this privilege from various parts of the North Island and it was felt that the train would be well patronised. Farewell to Team. In response to an invitation from the ladiefi' committee of the Auckland Rugby League it was deckled that the deputychairman of the council, Mr. Harold "Wilson, should farewell the New Zealand team at a dance to be held on May 30. Included in reports on inter-provincial trial matches was one from Mr. S. Billman, who was referee of the match at Taneatua between Bay of Plenty and King Country—Tokaanu, won by the former by 21 —18. The game was well contested and reference was made to the generous hospitality received from the Maori people at Ruatoke. It was stated that the Whakatane club had appointed as coach Mr. W. Skelton, former Poueonl'v player ami latterly a member of the Auckland Referees' Association.
The Balmain District Rugby League Club wrote advising that it was seeking authority to visit New Zealand later in the season and it* application had been recommended by the New South Wales Kugby League to the Australian Board of Control. Mr. W. Kelly, a New Zealand international, is again coaching the team, he having coached it for its first championship success in 1913. The club stated its intention of conferring later •with the New Zea%nd team managers.
