AXOLTCAN MINISTER ARRIVES
"Thank goodness, that Lang was beaten. He nearly ruined us last time when he was in power,'' said the Rev. J. Bidwell, of Summer Hill, Sydney, when he arrived by the Wanganella this morning and was told the result of the New South Wales elections.
An Anglican minister, Mr. Bidwell holds a charge in the area under the jurisdiction of Archbishop Mowll, of Sydney, about five miles out of the city, an<l lias come . o New Zealand to confer with local Anglican Church leaders on church matters. He will return to Sydney on Thursday.
He expressed relief that the people of New South Wales had returned the Stevens Government to power again. There seemed no lack of money in Sydnev and business was excellent.
Though this was Mr. Hid well's first trip to New Zealand he refused to be drawn oil the question of Auckland's harbour as compared with that of Sydney. "1 had no idea that your harbour was so large and so beautiful," he said. "I was amazed when I saw it this morning. But then, you know, it wouldn't, do to compare the two harbours, because Sydney is really outstanding in tt different way."
STRUCK BY CAR.
ACCIDENT AT ONEHTTNGA.
" " When he was knocked down by a motor car while wheeling his bicycle across Queen Street. Onehunga, shortly before five o'clock yesterday afternoon, Mr. trancis Thomas Brennan. aged 40, <>f 124. Mount Smart Road, Onehunga, suffered head injuries and concussion, He was taken to the Auckland Hospital in a St. John ambulance. His condition this morning was still serious.
